ktelon, a division of Benetton Sportsystem USA Inc, is based in Bordentown, New Jersey. Ektelon was founded by Franklin W. Bud Held in 1964 when he developed an aluminum tennis racquet and racquet stringing machine in his garage in San Diego. Only six years later, Ektelon equipment became such a hit with tournament players that the company had to move into a larger facility in San Diego in order to keep up with consumer demands. Ektelon products have enjoyed the longest, most successful reign of dominance in the sport of racquetball. Ektelon s heritage includes the introduction of more revolutionary technologies and programs to the sport of racquetball than any other company. Ektelon shoes and products employ innovations that include oversized racquetball racquets, the Racquet Taper System (RTS), Power Ring racquets, O3 Engineered racquets, Natural Foot Shape Footwear technology, among others. Ektelon introduced their Tour Series footwear line in July 2002.
