Mele & Co. was established in 1912 by Italian immigrant Emidio Mele who learned his craft from the fine jewelry display case makers Wolfsam and Sachs. His first jewelry case design was conceived and crafted on his very own kitchen table. His new venture initially focused on designing and building elegant and exquisitely-crafted jewelry displays for stores and eventually into creating elegant, heirloom-quality jewelry boxes and jewelry cases for the home. With fine attention to detail and craftsmanship, Mele quickly attracted high-end customers in New York's historic Fifth Avenue.
